Christmas: Kyle, Jane and I spent our Christmas morning together. Jane was so very excited to get her presents Chirstmas morning. She couldn't stop smiling.

Church was only an hr, and it was consisted mainly of music. Kyle, Jane and I really enjoyed that. Jane: because she loved music. Kyle and I: because it was probably the only Sacrament meeting since Jane started walking, that we didn't have to chase Jane around.

When we got home from Church we quickly open the rest of our presents, and then took Jane to her grandparents, where she received even more presents.

New Year: We spent new year with the Francis', they are from our ward. We stayed up past mid night playing game. I was surprised that I could since I generally start dozing off around 9 or 10 at night.

Kyle's brother, Austin left for his mission on 19th of Jan. Kyle's sister, Heather, and her husband, Clint flew in from Iowa for Austin's farewell talk. They stayed for about a week, so we were at Kyle's parents for most of that time. It was great to see them again.

We went to Kyle's parents' on Sunday to celebrate Julie's 50th birthday. In 20 years time, I'll be 50. Time is a weird thing. I feel that it can never be slow enough, unless it can stay still. Well, when we are immortal, we don't have to worry about such things as aging.

Kyle had his interview with the University of Utah last week for a spot in their physical therapy program. We are hoping that he will get in so we don't have to move, and we don't have to repaint the walls of our apartment back to their original off-white color.

2 years later, they decided: "Let have no more sleep, but get to be even happier!" And so, their daughter Jane granted them their wish:

Jane's Birthday

Jane's birthday was the day after Thanksgiving this year. She was born on Thanksgiving Day last year so it is fitting that she celebrated her first birthday on Thanksgiving instead of on her actual birthday.

Naturally, we enjoyed a feast at Kyle's parents'. We had a lot relatives there this year. Kyle's grandparents, uncle and 3 of his aunts and their families were there. Almost 30 people in total with a majority consisting of kids.

I made cupcakes for Jane's birthday, and some of the younger people (I can't say smaller cos they were as big as me) helped me decorate.

The one with the candle on it was Jane. She picked it out herself by sticking her finger into it. So, the candle went into the hole she made on the cake. She was just helping out! :)

And here is the birthday girl. Isn't she just adorable?

She wanted her cake. This is the 'Hey, that one is mine!' look.

Jane was actually very modest in eating her first birthday cake. She picked at and ate the icing one bit at a time. No face first into the cake, very poise and proper. I think she was trying to keep clean for the camera.

Jane received this giraffe-bike fr0m my favorite cousin, Khanh, for her birthday. She liked to climb on and off her bike best. She doesn't know how to go forward on her bike yet, but she can go backward.

She also received books, clothes, a pair of shoes and a singing cookie jar which she likes to dance to, and which was a present from her grandparents. One of the book she received was 'A Charlie Brown's Christmas'. Kyle got this book for Jane because 'A Charlie Brown's Christmas' is his favorite Christmas movie. We watch it every year during Christmas season.

Jane celebrated her first birthday this past Friday. We have plenty of good pictures but we forgot our camera at Kyle's parents' while we were there for Thanksgiving, so the pictures will have to wait. From Halloween to Walking

Jane will be 1 year old in 22 days isn't that crazy? She is walking about now. She took her first 2 steps at 9 and 1/2 month, but didn't really get into it until last Thursday when she just all of sudden took off and walked half way across the room. On Sunday, she was walking all over the place at Church. I think she was showing of to all the boys. Side note: At the time Jane was born, our ward had a boy-wave, so all the other little babies in our ward around Jane's age are boys. Lots to pick from for any up coming dances :)

We didn't do our annual pumpkin craving this year. Too much going on I think, but we did celebrate Halloween with our ward. Guess what we were?

Summer Fun

Where has the summer holiday gone? Kyle is back to school this week and I haven't post for a while, so this is to catch up on all the summer fun.

We went to our ward annual Bear Lake outing at the end of last month. Kyle went tubing, I was a whoosh so I made him do paddle boat with me, and Jane played in the kiddie pool, and of course we only took pictures of Jane.

My uncle and his family visited us the week after. It was great to see them all again. My two cousins were so grown up, I couldn't believe it. We took lots of photos but they are all on their camera and my uncle hadn't a chance to send us any photos yet. But we took some photos of Jane!!! :D My uncle invited us and Kyle's parents out for dinner, and while we were all eating, Jane decided she wants to eat too.

It was Jane's 9 months doctor visit yesterday. She is 18 pounds 10 ounces (8.4kg) and some 27 inches tall, which placed her pretty much in the 50th percentile for both weight and height. She had a new doctor since her last doctor moved away. She liked him, and sat still for him as he was giving her the usual well child check up. I think she liked him cos he let her play with his spectroscope, and there were no vaccinations for her 9 months visit. That would be a extra plus in her book.

There has been a new and exciting development. Jane can stand on her own for a few seconds now. Here are the proof.
Beside that, here are some of other things that Jane learned how to do:
+ Gives high 5's
+ Sings along to some of her song (in baby language of course)
+ Dances to the music from her Baby Einstein DVDs
+ Turn the page when you read books to her
+ Crawl up the stairs
+ Loves to chase CoCo (Kyle's parents' dog) around and sometimes pulls her hair
+ Understand No - she obeyed as first, but now she's testing the authority. She knows that she can't go into the bathroom, so she would crawl to the bathroom door whenever it is left open, stop, look at me to see my reaction and opt for the inside of the bathroom as fast as she could.
+ Can say Mama, DaDa, Yaya, Nahnah, Yeahyeah

I think that Jane likes orange, because she loves to play with my orange cleaning towels. She would go through the drawer where I kept my towels, pulled out whatever happened to be on top and ran of with those orange ones. She also likes to play with Kyle's orange scrap paper.

Life as a mother is certainly hectic but is also full of rewarding moments such as these when I caught her red-handed on cameras to hold over her heads when she's all grown-up! :D JK

My birthday was almost 3 weeks ago so this is a very late post. This year, Kyle gave me an ipad for my birthday. The picture below sums up my reaction perfectly.

My cousins in Australia gave me an Amazon gift card. So, among other things, I got myself a nice cover for my ipad, a stylus and a tennis racquet so Kyle and I can play tennis together this summer :) Whoot!
Kyle also got a tennis racquet (an early birthday gift from me). It arrived yesterday and had no string. No wonder it was on sale for 1/3 of the original price. I guess he will have a hard time of returning my balls. hahaha

Ok now on to the important stuff. Jane! :D

Jane can crawl around pretty well now so she is all over the place. Kyle and I have some major baby proofing to do. She can also push herself up to sitting position on her own.

In the pix below, Jane is eating her toy chicken, which her aunt Heather and uncle Clint gave her for Christmas. Kyle named it Duckworth because, at first, he thought it was a duck. So, we amended it by calling it Duckworth the Chicken.

Due to the fact that Jane can now roll and (kinda) crawl all over the place now, this morning, Han thought it would be a good idea to build a barrier for her. I guess you could call it a play pen.It was a good idea until this little jailbreak happened.

I guess Jane wanted to open Mommy's birthday gift prematurely. Tsk tsk.

The Joy of Being an Australian

In Australia, voting is not just a RIGHT, it's a MUST. Last week, I received an email from my cousin who I used to live with in Australia informing me that I had received a fine for not voting. My aunt and said cousin also had received a fine as they didn't vote either. It seems that rebellion runs in the family??? :) Another cousin of mine in good ol' 2nd-motherland Australia is trying to sort out the issue for me so I don't have to pay the fine. Meanwhile, I'm posting about this problem on my blog (mostly because Kyle thinks it's hilarious).

Of course this wouldn't blog post wouldn't be complete without me mentioning something, that is to say, going on and on about Jane. lol

Jane can army-crawl now, so she is all over the place. This morning, while I was busy with some things, I looked over to check up on Jane; she had army-crawled/rolled/scooted over to where her dad left his sandal, and was examining it with her tongue.

Jane can also sit up pretty well, although sometimes she would throw her hands up and fall backward. She bumped her head once doing this. After that, I knew better and placed a cushion behind her. This process is demonstrated below :D

Jane has a new sleeping position. Quite often, I would come in her room to check up on her, and she would be sleeping on her stomach with her bum sticking up. I haven't been able to get a photo of this yet, but I am very determine to snap at least one. :)

I'm so happy that the weather has finally warmed up as Jane can wear all her cute summer clothes, so I can brag about her on our blog, which is exactly what I'm doing right now!

Jane officially has her first tooth on Friday. She has been teething for a little while before that, so it was very exciting to finally see it poking out. It felt very sharp. I'm afraid that she would bite down on my finger every time I poke it in their to check out her teeth, but I couldn't help doing it every so often. :)

She loves us pulling her up to standing position then let her hold on to the couch. She can't stand up (holding to the couch) by herself for long just yet, but she loves doing it!

6 Months

Jane wants to help write this blog today. She is very eager to share her news. She is trying to hit the keyboard.

Jane had her doctor appointment last Thursday, she is just over 16 pounds in weight and 26 inches in height. She received her 6-months set of vaccinations, and gave a healthy 2 mins scream (I wasn't there, but I heard from Kyle). She also recognized the clinic waiting room and let her daddy know in no uncertain terms that she didn't like being there one bit.

Jane has reached another mile stone before her 6 months. She can roll over onto her stomach. After her third nap today, I put her on her play blanket and she just rolled back and forth from her back onto her stomach, then stomach to back over and over again, while I cheered her on. I think she enjoys her mommy's attention.

She also has some teeth coming in. You can feel them if you rub her gums and you can almost see them. They are going to pop through any day now. We will post some pictures when that happens. In the meantime, here are some other photos of her that we took recently.

Our Week So Far

Chu Gio - someone Kyle and I both know and love from Australia visited Utah for a week. We were able to catch up with him on Monday, which was also his 66th birthday. He was from Footscray ward, my old ward in Australia, which was also where Kyle and other missionaries from the Melbourne West mission served. So, it was almost like a mission reunion. It was so much fun catching up with Chu Gio and people that we know. Chu Gio is just as wonderful as we remembered. Kyle and I were so glad that we were able to catch up with him as well as our other friends.

And this blog post won't be complete if I don't include something about Jane! :) She still loves her rice cereal. This is how much she loves it. Yesterday, I was feeding her rice cereal before her bed time. She munched down each spoonful I gave her, but that wasn't enough. She grabbed her bowl, and shoved it in her mouth.

I sing to Jane whenever I feed her rice cereal, and this is the song (for all our Ausie fanz out there, it's the song to the Aeroplane Jelly ad with the words slightly altered): Jane loves her rice cereal. Rice cereal for Jane. She eats it for breakfast and she eats it for dinner. Rice cereal for Jane.

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day a week ago, we went down to Kyle's parent. Well, we actually went the Saturday before but close enough. We got Julie a nice necklace. It came in some very pretty paper, and Jane was having a great time playing in it.I think the better present for Julie may be seeing how cute Jane is, and that Jane actually likes her now. She is still warming up to Steve and Austin. :D Happy Mother's Day to everyone who is a mother.

Five Months!

Jane turned 5 months old on Monday. She is onto solid food now and loving it. She absolutely loves eating her rice cereal. She laughed and cooed excitedly every time I give her rice cereal.

Kyle wasn't home when she had solid food for the first time. So that he wouldn't miss out on this wonderful experience, I made a long video, which I will have to edit before it can load since it's way too long.

As you know, Jane had learned to roll over, although she kept on forgetting how afterward. She loves standing on her legs and are quite good at it. I think she has decided to skip straight to walking :) She's trying to beat her uncle Austin who started walking at 9 months.

Jane has been spending time with her grandma, Julie, every Monday since I went back to work. It was hard on Jane being away from her mom and dad. This past Monday, she had finally gotten used to spending time at grandma's. Whoot!!! Julie is very glad to be in on Jane's top 3! :)

It has been a while since we have done a new post. So here are some fun pictures of Jane.
Here she is in one of her Sunday outfits that Kyle and I thought was adorable. We're not wrong, are we?
Also, Jane has what we are calling a double jointed ear. If you push if forward sometimes it will get stuck and stick straight out to the side. Kyle thinks it's funny, but I say he's mean to sweet little Jane.

4 Months Now

Sorry this posting is a little late. I haven't been feeling very well. But since there is so much exciting news, I have to share it all.

First things first, baby Jane went for her well-child check up last Friday and she weighed 14.6 pounds and was 24.8 inches in length. She moved from being in the 50th percentile to the 75th percentile for both for babies her age. She also received her second set of vaccination shots, but she didn't get sick this time. She's a tough little cookie, she only cried for two minutes.

We also spent some time at Grandma's. We took some cute pictures.For the next set of exciting news - baby learned to roll over today! And I caught it on camera.

Jane is 3 months old today. She:
- Is as adorable as ever!!!
- Is almost 14 pounds.
- Can hold her head at 90 degree angle during tummy time.
- Can almost roll-over from her stomach onto her back.
- Loves it when I read the Book of Mormon Story to her in Vietnamese. She would talk the whole time, and excitedly look at all the pictures.
- Loves to dance. She would laugh and laugh when I moved her legs up and down to a beat, and I have a video to prove it :)

And she is in her 'I don't want daddy, just mommy' mode right now. Poor Kyle pouted about how she's all smiles for mommy and all frowns for daddy. I

It is also Julie and Steve wedding anniversary today. Happy Anniversary!!

Caught on Tape

Kyle had finally been able to video taped Jane talking yesterday. He was studying while I was playing with Jane, and couldn't stay away when Jane started cooing away.

Jan's favorite toy is a colorful stuff giraffe that Julie got her. Jane also likes to lick things, her fingers, her bib, her clothes ... whatever her tongue can reach and get a taste. Last night, Kyle showed her that she could combine her 2 favorite things together by licking her giraffe. So, we got this hilarious footage. Not sure if you can see on the footage, but she was sticking her little tongue out trying very hard to get a taste of her favorite giraffe, but her bib kept getting in the way.

Jane was blessed in Church today. Her daddy gave such a beautiful blessing, which made her mummy cry. Kyle's parents, grand-parents, brother, aunt & uncle, and some some of our good friends were there to share this special occasion with us. Jane had her doctor appointment last Thursday. She is now 11.5 pounds and 22.5 inches long, which place her in the 60th-ish percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height. She also received her vaccinations, a set of 3 in total. When the nurse administered her the shots, she made noises that Kyle and I had never heard coming from her before. She can sure scream.

Last Wednesday was Australia Day, and Khanh, my cousin, sent Jane an Australian outfit. We dressed her up and took a photo. Isn't she adorable? As always.

Happy Two Months

Jane was exactly 2 months yesterday, so I dressed her up for the occasion and took lots of photos.

Here are some of my favorites:

Developmental Milestones:
- She can stick out her lower lip and pout
- She can watch baby Einstein (which is what she is doing right now and making a lot of noise while she is at it) and TV
- She knows how to talk, smile and complain to her mummy (she does the first 2 to daddy, and the last 1 about daddy)
- She can hold her head up during tummy time, altho she doesn't really enjoy doing on the floor, she prefers doing it on mummy's or daddy's tummy.
- She knows how to roll her tongue
- She can follow mummy and daddy with her eyes
- She can blow bubbles
- She laughs and get really excited when she knows she's about to get fed
- She still stares at her daddy
- She loves to stand up straight
- Her favorite nursery song is Book of Mormon Story

Kyle came home yesterday from school and told me excitedly that there were deers at the back of our apartment. I checked after he left for work and they were still there, a mum and her baby. They were so cute. I wondered where they had wandered from.

Julie and great-grandma Passey came visit on Thursday, so Kyle dressed Jane up for the occasion. Julie got her the cute headband with knitted flower you see in the photo. I love it and I think Jane does, too.

We gave Jane a bath last night, and of course we couldn't help but took her photos.

Our Baby Jane will be a week old tomorrow - I can't believe it. She is getting cuter and cuter as the day goes by. She makes little happy cooing noises as she's nursed. And she has her daddy wraps around her little finger. Here are some cute and some funny photos of our little Thanksgiving Turkey.

And here is the story of how this little cutie made her depute to the world.

As you know I went into labor on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday) at 2am. I thought it was a cue to go to the bathroom, but I was too sleepy so I refused to get out of bed. Half an hr later, I realized that this might be a cue for something else entirely different, so I started timing myself each time the pain started. I wasn't sure if I should go to the hospital, because I went to the hospital on Tuesday, and was sent home. Kyle and I didn't want to get sent home again, especially since we were at his parents' which means a 30-45 mins drive back. We didn't leave until 6am. On the way Kyle kept asking me, are you having another contraction? It might be the pressure, but my contractions subsided. Kyle thought we were going to get sent home again.

When we got to the hospital, the nurse did a routine check up. I didn't think she expected me to stay. She did an internal check, I was 3.5cm dilated, and Jane's head was so low that she could touch it. I passed and we got to stay! :)

After I got an epidural at 11am, it was a breeze. Thanks goodness for epidural. Don't think I could have done without it. There was another lady who went into labor on the same day as me. It was her 2nd child so she beat me to the punch line, which meant I had to wait until our doctor finished delivering her baby. She was going all natural (no epidural) so I think it was best that she got to go first. She had a boy.

Jane was so ready to come out by the time the doctor came, but she meant to make an entrance. I supposed to push in synch with each contraction. After the first push, there was no more contraction for a long time. The nurse thought the monitor (which was monitoring my contractions) slipped off my stomach, but no, Jane just liked to keep us waiting. She probably wasn't happy being forced to wait for an hr. After that little wait tho, Jane was ready to make her depute, and 20 minutes later she gave her first cry.

Kyle couldn't help staring at his little daughter. He is a very dotting father. I love watching him with Jane. It's hard to believe how much we love her already.

Han: Yes.

Kyle: But are all parents this right tho?

This month marks a very important anniversary, which I obviously gave away with the giant picture at the beginning of this post. November of 2000, the album "1" was released by the Beatles, featuring their 27 number 1 hits from the 8 years they were together. By default, this also signifies by 10 year love affair with the Beatles. This is the first Beatles album I ever listened to and ever owned. I was immediately blown away with the Beatles' music when I heard this CD. The songwriting, the musical skill, the harmonies in these songs are incredible. I especially fell in love with "Hey Jude" which is still my favorite song of all time. I have come a long way since my first Beatles album. I now have over 30 CD, 3 vinyls, a bunch of t-shirts, Beatles Monopoly, Beatles Trivial Pursuit, Beatles Rock Band, "A Hard Day's Night" on DVD (if you haven't seen that movie, you really need to), multiple Beatles books and even Beatles drinking glasses. I'm actually listening to the Beatles right now as I write this post. So, if you do not own this album, please, go get a copy to celebrate its 10 year anniversary. Interestingly enough, this month iTunes also made the Beatles library available to download. Not that I need it, I already have every song they ever recorded.

Baby Talk & Super Saturday

I had a doctor appointment on Thursday. Everything is fine. Baby has dropped, which means she should be coming in 2 to 4 weeks. (This is Kyle butting in. Han was so excited when she woke up and realized the baby had dropped. She was feeling her stomach and looking at it funny and ran to me excitedly. "I think my stomach is different. I think baby's dropped." She then ran to her pregnancy book to read about it.) Our doctor did a brief ultrasound and Jane's head is where it should be :)

My nesting instinct must have kicked in, either that or I freaked out because I realized Jane will be here very soon so I got the nursery all set up. Here it is as promised! Julie helped a lot with all the decorating, hence the reason it looks so adorable :) Thank you grandma Julie.

Julie got us the quilt set. She is such a doting grandma.
She also made the pink curtain.
The RS organized a Super Saturday on this past Sat, and below are 2 of the things I made.

BABY SHOWER

Baby's Jane (Vy)'s shower was on last Saturday. Jane received a lot of cute things. I didn't get a chance to take a lot of photos as I was busy opening Jane's presents :) but Kyle and I 'borrowed' some of the photos from Julie's blog for our own :)

Julie got a cute sign to put on the front door to welcome our guests.

Check out these adorable cupcakes that Kerri-Jo made. She is so talented.

Julie and Steve got us a really neat stroller and carseat combo. It was funny when Julie announced that it was a present from grandma and grandpa, everyone turned to look at grandma Passey (Steve's mum).

Heather made a really cute car seat cover and a nursing cover for me. It was her first time but it looked professional.

Grandma Passey gave Jane, among other things, a cute piggy bank. She even started her saving already with loose change.

Barb and Gareth gave Jane a yellow bath tub, which matches the cute towels from Mikal and Conner.

Jane also recieved baby books, cute cute clothes (I wish they are big enough for me), portable swings etc.

A great thank you to family and friends for all your love and support. Kyle, baby and I really appreciate all your kindness. A special thank you to Julie for organized baby Jane's shower.

After the shower, Steve and Julie took me home, and we decorated Jane's room. Sorry no photos yet, I promised to post photos of Jane's room once I got the whole thing organized :)

Happy Halloween

Kyle's work had a sport theme for Halloween so Kyle dressed up as Rafael Nadal (the tennis player), but I guess the general American public is not very tennis orientated, so the whole day he was mistaken for an orange ninja. As for me, I dressed up as a fish bowl for the ward Halloween party last Friday.

After the ward Halloween party, we went over to Barb and Gareth for a pumpkin carving party with them and Conner and Mikal. They were all dressed up as well.

Here are our finished pumpkins except Conner didn't finish his. Ours is the one in the middle. We were going for a graveyard theme so we have a gravestone, a hand coming out of the ground and a scary looking tree.

Super Saturday

Kyle went golfing early in the morning with the elder quorum. He won the longest drive contest, and get a free oil change. Whoot.

At 10 am, Julie came to help us paint our living room and baby room. Julie and Kyle did all the work, because the fume gave me a headache after 2 hrs of exposure, so I went outside and read. They did a fantastic job. Afterward, we went to Corner Bakery for lunch.

Here is how our wall looks like now. We went with the Australian theme. On the left is a view of Melbourne city. It is a little outdated, but that's ok. On the right are a collage of photos we took in Melbourne, and the number plates are from (from the top) Victoria, Northern Teritory and South Australia. On the far wall is a picture of Christ, just in case you can't tell! :)

I absolutely loved our new walls (or newly painted walls) . Thank you so much Julie for helping us paint our place. We painted the baby room yellow. I will post pictures when we finished decorating it!

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday, Kyle and I went hay ride and pumpkin picking with Julie. Kyle and I picked 2 good ones, and the best part was that they were free!!! Last year, Kyle carved a fantastic design on our pumpkin. We'll have to think up something to out-do the one he did last year.

Before we went pumpkin picking, Julie and I was making invites for my up-coming baby shower. They are sooo CUTE!

One more bit of news, we have finally moved into our new apartment. It is a lot more spacious than our last one. We have unpacked and got everything put away except for the baby room, but I will get to it ... eventually :) Julie will come and help us paint our baby room and living room this Saturday. Or at least, Kyle will help Julie paint and I find something to occupy my time while the painting is going on :)

Game Time

This past Thursday, Han and I got to go to the Jazz pre-season game against the Portland Trailblazers. Our bishop has season tickets and gave them to us for the night since he couldn't go. And these tickets were awesome. Fourth row, half court. Can't get too much better than that.

It was a really good, exciting game, even though it was just a pre-season game. The Jazz starters played very well; I think they are going to have a very good year. This was the first time Han had ever been to the ESA to see a game live. She loved it, although I may never be able to take her again, because we'll probably never have such good seats again, and sitting in the nosebleeds can be kind of depressing after you see a game down close. Anyway, the final score was 100-96. Go Jazz!

Our Month

It has been a month since we posted anything. Time flies. We had a lot of BBQs this month. We had a farewell as our neighbours, Bryce, Celeste and lil Evelyn, moved to Florida. Celeste and Evelyn stayed with us for a few days as they get ready for the move. We missed having them around and having lil Evelyn cooing all day long. We were very sad to see them go, but we are happy that they are moving on to a new chapter in their lives.

The doctor visit this month was brief: our baby heart beats were normal (yay!), my glucose test came back normal (double yay!), everything is fine, and I'm steadily dwarfing a whale (or at least it feels that way at times).

Our nursery has gotten bigger. We have 8 kids now instead of four. Last week we had 7 kids in nursery, which was the most that we had so far. Nursery helps me to be grateful for adult Sunday classes that we GET to go most every other week. Notice now we GET to go instead of Have to go :) Today, one of our nursery kid couldn't come to class because she has a runny nose, so her dad took her to class with him, afterward he commented that now he knows that nursery is inspired because he is exhausted.

I'm still working at the Corner Bakery. I will be working there until the end of November. On Friday, one of our regular guess, Gerry, came in with a baby gift for me. She was so sweet! She thought that my due date is in October. She is going to away for a little while in October and didn't want to miss giving me her gift.

We are moving next month on the 12th, so our apartment is currently a mess. I have this big box of baby stuff all packed, sitting in our living room cos we had nowhere to put it. It is currently serving as a table/footrest.

I went to the General Relief Society broadcast yesterday. I loved it. I especially enjoyed President Thompson's message. Kyle went to the Utes game while I was at the broadcast. He found it pretty boring since the Utes won 53 -3. Not much of a competition.

Kyle's Birthday Weekend

I organized Kyle a surprise birthday party on Friday. I had to be very sneaky about the whole business, as Kyle was mostly home when I was home. I pulled it of with a lot of helps from our friends. A very special thanks to them :)

We went to dinner at MacCools with a few friends, so Kyle could have his favourite lamb ribs. Yummmm... (The guy in blue in the picture below was the waiter, he couldn't help wanting to be in a photo with so many cool people :)

I left the door open so that our other friends could sneaked in the house and yelled surprised when we got home. We had never had so many people in our house at one time before. It was amazing that we were able to fit everyone in. The plan was to have a pie party afterward. We had so much pies left over that anyone who brought a pie get to take it home. We are still trying to finish of our left over pies. :)

On Saturday, we went to Bear Lake with our ward. Our Bishop, Bishop Sonnenberg has a beautiful house right by the water. Below is the view from their backyard.

Kyle went boating and tubing. I didn't, which turned out to be a good thing as it was very choppy out on the water. I would not have been able to stomach it. But, Kyle and I went kayaking in the afternoon. The water was so clear and beautiful. Kyle lost his balance at one point and fell in. It was pretty funny.

After that we had a little down time in the shade and playing outdoor games.

On the way home, we stopped to get some of those famous Bear Lake rasberry shakes. Yummie....

A big thank to bishop Sonnenberg and sister Sonnenberg for organizing a such a fantastic day.

For those who don't know, we are the nursery leaders for our ward. On Sunday, toward the end of Church for some reason our kids were very rowdy. So, we took pictures of them making funny faces.

Sunday night, we went to our stake fireside with Elder and Sister Bednar. They opened the fireside for questions, which was the same as the last fireside that I attended with them in Australia. The fireside was very good and very spiritual. We loved it. The End.

JUST ANOTHER WEEKEND

So, Friday was our neighbours Celeste's surprise birthday party/BBQ, which was also their going away party. They are moving to Florida next month. And we shall miss them and their cute baby. Really we should have taken photos on our camera, but I was too busy taking photos on theirs, so no photos :)

The next day, Saturday, we went to Toys R Us with Julie and Steve, who bought a bunch of baby stuff, went volunteering at Primary Children Hospital, and saw a movie. Scott Pilgrim vs the World is the name of the movie and it was hilarious/amazing/fantastic.

We went to Kyle's parents for his birthday dinner on Sunday.
It (his birthday) is not until the 22nd, but we celebrate it early because that was the only time we could get together with the family. There, we played the T-shirt game and enjoyed a wonderful dinner and some marvelous birthday pies.
Heather and Clint gave Kyle Season 7 of Monk on DVD.

MORE BABY TALKS (JUST COS WE'RE VERY DOTING PARENTS)

So, we went for my monthly check up with the doctor yesterday. I'm currently at 107.4 pounds - so far I have gained a whopping 20 pounds (around 10 kg), more than what I have gained in the last 10 yrs. Whoohoo!!! Stomach size: 33 inches (85 cm), I finally beat Kyle at 31 inches. Double whoohoo!!! :)

The doctor was listening to our baby heart beat yesterday with a device that was similar to what they do in ultrasound just not near as advance. Our baby didn't like him pressing down on my stomach, crowding her space so she kicked at it so hard that I could see it bobbing up everytime she kicked.

About our baby's name, so far we don't have many guesses yet, but we have votes for Penny (from Khanh), Elizabeth and Sarah. And none of those are right! hahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahhahahhahahhahahhahahahhahahahahahahaha......hahahhahahhahahhaha

BABY TALKS - THE ULTRASOUND

Kyle and I went to the LDS hospital to see our baby for the first time yesterday. We had to wait an hour and a half because they were extremely behind, but it was worth it. Here are some ultrasound photos:

Our ultrasound technician was great. She was very thorough and helpful. She included us in what she was doing, which was great because for the majority of the time, we had no idea what we were looking at without her explanation. She looked at pretty much everything, while explaining to us what she was doing and what things meant as she went along. Our baby didn't make her job easy for her though. It kept moving around, having a great time. She had to stop several times to try getting the baby to move. Kyle said it had problem with authority like its mother. hahahaha.

After our ultrasound technician finished, while we waited for the doctor to come, our baby started to kick my stomach. It was still kicking when the doctor came. When he did the ultrasound, we could see clearly one of our baby's feet on the monitor playing soccer with my bladder. Caught red handed!

Our baby is healthy, and everything is in order and as it should be. Our baby weight is currently 11 ounces (about 312 grams).

Just got home from the Paul McCartney concert, and just as I predicted, it was the best concert ever. Seriously, I cannot describe to you how awesome this concert was. I mean, this was one of my goals in life, to see Paul McCartney live, and now I've done it, and it was everything that I could have hoped for. Paul is an amazing musician and he put on an incredible show. I doubt I will ever see anything like it again. He played everything from bass, guitar, mandolin, piano, to even the ukulele. It's amazing to see him in person to see how talented he is. And it was crazy how many people were there. The entire field and stands at Rio Tinto Stadium was packed.

He came out with an awesome set of Venus and Mars/ Rockshow/Jet, the last song being my favorite non-Beatle song of his. He played for a good two hours straight, ending with Live and Let Die, which a firework show and everything, and then a beautiful rendition of Hey Jude that was easily 10+ minutes. But he wasn't done, he came out for two encores, the first of which included a fantastic jam out session to Helter Skelter. Before the concert I told Han that if I could request any one song it would be I Got a Feeling, and guess what, he played it just for me.

BABY TALKS II (& Ward Camp Out)

Kyle and I went camping at Jordan Pine with our ward last night. It was a short and nice camping trip. The bishop provided dinner, which was fried chicken (he must have known it was one of my favourite food item). After dinner, we divided into 2 groups to compete against each other in a series of games. Our group's name was Dash and the other group was called Cheese Sticks. After a few competive games, I wondered off to start a camp fire because I was cold.

We had a wonderful devotional led by our bishop on the topic of 'LOVE', in which he related a beautiful story about his mother-in-law who has Alzheimer. He went and visit her in a Alzheimer nursing home. She is but a shadow of her former self, yet she looked at him and said: 'I love you'. He said how powerful love is that it survived this destructive illness.

After our devotional, a few of our members played the guitars, and we all sang around the camp fire, until it started raining. I slept soundly because Kyle so selflessly gave me the much softer mat to sleep on, while he struggled all night on his paper thin one. When I left the tent at 6am for a little while, he took advantage of my vacant spot straight away. He barely had time to realize how much more comfortable my mat was compared to his before he was fast asleep. When I came back, he didn't want to leave the newly found comfort, so we cuddled and napped some more.

Alright baby talks: I definitely felt the baby kicked this afternoon. Before, I wasn't so sure whether it was my imagination, my stomach spasm or the baby moving, but it was so distinct this afternoon that there was no mistake about it. Kyle put his hand on my stomach right afterward, and our baby kicked for him, too!!! We were both very excited!!! :D

Kyle and I went for my 4th doctor appointment today. I'm currently at 18 weeks. Weight:100 pounds or 45 kg; stomach size: 30.5 inches or 77.5 cm. There is this BMI chart at the doctor's office and for all the previous visits, I didn't weigh enough to make it on the chart, but I did today!! What a momentous day this is!!! :)

As for the baby gender, IT'S A ..... we don't know yet!~! The ultrasound is scheduled for next Friday (July 16th) . Excititng!!!!

Layton City Letdown

Yesterday I had a ticket to go to a concert by the Grass Roots. If you don't know who the Grass Roots are, they are a band from the 60's/70's and they are awesome. This is their website; you can listen to some of their songs at the bottom of the page: http://www.the-grassroots.com/

So anyway, I went with my dad over to the Layton City Ampitheatre (it was mostly old people there, I don't know what was up with that). I was so excited to see these guys again, I saw them before about 8 years ago, but I wasn't so excited when it started late. Starting late isn't really that big a deal though, however, as soon as the band was about to be introduced, the power went out. That is kind of a big deal. Apparently, a quarter of Layton city lost power. I was upset. Even more upsetting was the fact that I had to sit there while some random guys stalled the crowd to wait for the power to come back on. Some guy from the air force told some bad jokes, some other guy who was a less than mediocre singer sang all the verses of the Star Spangled Banner and then tried to get the audience to sing Row, Row, Row Your Boat. It was dreadful! The band did come out for a bit and address the crowd. They were very nice, but some of them visibly annoyed. Eventually a rep from the Davis Arts Counsil (who run all the shows at the ampitheatre) came out and told everyone that the show was being cancelled...without refund. The Davis Arts Counsil is apparently a "non-profit organization" and supposedly they "couldn't afford" to refund people their money. The rep was nice about it though, he was very apologetic, offered everyone a free ticket to any other event at the venue, and got a nice little thank you applause. I booed. I stood up and booed at him as loud as I could. I was like the only one. I was upset though, I wanted to see a rock and roll concert. At least I still have the Paul McCartney concert to look forward to. Hopefully.

Birthday Week

Yesterday was Han's birthday. It was a joyous occasion. This year, though, I had bought her 7 presents so I decided to give her one everyday for her birthday week. So I wrapped them all and numbered them on gave her present number 1 last monday.
It was a book. How boring. Just kidding, Han loves books. I got her 5 total plus a DVD that she has really been wanting, and Super Mario Bros Wii which I saved for last. The DVD was Spirited Away, which we watched together on Friday. I had never seen it, but I found it to be very good.

Since her birthday was on a Sunday, we spent Saturday celebrating. First we went to the Chalk Festival down at the Gateway. Han loved it because there was free cotton candy.

It was really cool, there about a hundred artists/teams drawing on the sidewalks. We took pictures of our favorites.
After we sweated it out at the Chalk Festival, Han wanted nothing more to than hot steaming bowl of Pho to beat the heat so we headed to a Vietnamese restaurant near our place. At night we went to the Redwood Drive In to see Toy Story 3 (which was great, really great). It was playing with Prince of Persia (which was pretty terrible). It was very surprised that Han made it through both movies, considering the second one ended at about 1:30am.

On Sunday we went to my parents to celebrate some more birthdayness as well as Father's Day. Heather and Clint gave Han Mulan on DVD and Han wants to point out that Julie took her maternity clothes shopping a couple weeks ago and she loves her new clothes. Anyway, we had a nice dinner with steak and salmon, Clint became the champion of champions in Dicecapades, and we all enjoyed some nice homemade chocolate cheesecake. And that's that. Happy Birthday honey.

Han: Since Sunday was also Father's Day, I gave Kyle his first Father's Day present! It was Valkyrie. Kyle has wanted it for a long time. Happy Father's Day!

Baby Update

Kyle and I went for my third check up with the doctor today. I'm currently at 14 weeks. Stomach size: 75 cm or 29.5 inches, weight: 94 pounds (I gained only 2 pounds in the last 4 weeks). The doctor said everything is going great. We listened to the baby heart beat again. And Julie: I forgot to ask the doctor if he thought the baby's heart beat is fast. Sorry! Our doctor will be scheduling the ultrasound at our next visit, which is in 4 weeks or so. Yay! Hopefully our baby will be accomodating and give us a good view :)

At the end of the visit, our doctor gave us some food for thought: 'How come you can buy a dollar burger at fast food places, while a head of broccoli is $1.50?' He told us the answer, if you want to know you will have to talk to us! :)

Greatest Thing Ever

On Monday, I heard perhaps the best news ever (since I found out that Han is pregnant, of course - what could be better than that?). As it would happen, Paul McCartney is coming to Utah to play a show at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Naturally, I was speechless for a number of minutes before I could compose myself enough to call my mom to see if she would like to go with me (Han felt that she had better not go since the concert is on Tuesday and she has to work early on weekdays :( 5:30 every day). Well, it turns out that she did want to come and even offered to buy my ticket for me as an early birthday present (sidenote: best birthday present ever).

So today, pops went online and bought the three of us tickets during the presale for people with American Express card (another reason I called my folks, I don't have an Amex card). So I officially have tickets! I couldn't convince them to buy front row tickets ($2000) or VIP tickets ($400-1500) but we didn't get the cheap seats either. Here is a map:
The closest section in red is still pretty pricey, but we have tickets for the first row of the blue section on the field. I am ridiculously excited.

Our Week

I guess you could say we had an eventful week. Here is what has been going on:

On Monday, Han and I went to the doctor to see if we could hear the baby's heartbeat. Han was ten weeks along at the time. We had seen the doctor two weeks earlier and he wasn't able to find the heartbeat, but this time he was. Han and I were very happy.

Later in the week I was out doing the laundry and I found this baby bird laying in the grass so I picked it up and took it home. I couldn't find the nest that it had come from so I didn't know what to do with it. Nobody like animal control or all that would come to pick it up since it was just a bird. Someone told me that perhaps Tracy Aviary would take it and since we only live a couple blocks away from there, I took it over to see, but they wouldn't take it either. Eventually I just had to leave it to die, which was very sad, and I'm sorry to tell you all this horrible story and show you this picture along with it:

In some happier news, it was Clint's birthday on Friday, so on Saturday we went down to my parents to celebrate. We gave him a boardgame called Dicecapades, which was quite fun. We also spent some time playing this beanbag toss game and making up our own rules to how you have to throw the bags. We got creative. Here are some pictures:

Veggie Tale

Yesterday we had a ward activity. Probably the first ward activity we have ever gone to because Kyle always had to work on Fridays and the activities always seemed to be on Friday.

This time the activity was a pine-wood derby with vegetables instead of cars. I didn't know what a pine-wood derby was, but I think I do now. :)

It was fun. Kyle got a piece of ginger for his car and named it the Ginger GTO.

Sad News All Around

Actually, there's really not all that much sad news floating around our apartment; it's mostly good news like the post below. There are a few specks, however, which I feel inclined to share.

First of all, I deleted my Jazz blog. I know, it's heartbreaking to the two people who read it. I find that, although I still do love the Jazz (and I loved that game on Monday night), I just don't have the time to sit down and crank out good quality posts. And once I do have time (when school is over), the Jazz won't be playing anymore. It's a catch-22. But seriously, Monday's game was awesome.

The other bit of bad news is that one of my favorite bands, Powderfinger, is disbanding. I know, you've probably never heard of them. They are an Australian band, and, in my opinion, the best band to ever come out of Australia (no offense AC/DC fans). I just got their new CD a couple of weeks ago and I found out this dreadful news then. So, in tribute to them, here is my favorite song from their new album:

They're having a farewell tour this fall and I'm trying to convince Han that we should go to the show in Melbourne on September 10th, but it's kind of a hard sell. I don't see why.

We're Having Twins

Just kidding. But seriously, I am really pregnant. I better tell Kyle to add a baby countdown to our blog. I am due Dec 9th. I have been sick for the past two days with a cold. I don't get morning sickness, though, just afternoon sickness.

If our baby is a boy, we will name him Ender and steal the name from Barb. She really wants to have a boy named Ender. Hahaha (evil laugh)

Here are some picture I took of all the snow that hit us yesterday/last night. While I'm not very happy to have snow, the pictures turned out pretty good and I got use some of the functions on our new camera.

I also found this function on our camera called 'Happy Faces' which can add/increase the smiles on people's faces in the pictures. It works okay, but if you increase the scale all the way to maximum it becomes pretty funny. For instance, here is a picture of us, before:

Ice Hockey

Kyle and I went to hockey game last night: the Grizzlies vs Condors. Our lovely neighbors couldn't go, so they gave us their ticket. It was my first time going to a hockey game.

Below is a picture of us. our camera's battery ran out so we took the photo with Kyle's camera. It turned out really well for a camera phone. or may be it just because we are such attractive ppl :)

I really like how every time the home team scored, they were flashing the light, ringing the bell, blasting the horn and music for a long long time. They also had a deal between the Grizzlies and Rumbi Island Grill that if they score 5 points or more, we all get the buy 1 get one free deal . And they did. Whoot!

Sitting next to Kyle was a little boy, his mum bought him cotton candy, or in the Down Under terminology, it's Fairy Floss, which was my favorite thing to snack on. So, Kyle told me to go begging for some. The little boy was very intrigued with the faces I made, so he kept on watching me as Kyle was taking the photo, which cracked me up, so it took us 3 tries before I can get a sad enough face. I didn't get any fairy floss for all of my hard work tho :(

Random Thoughts During Spring Break

Well, in case you were not aware, I have quit my job at the Hostess factory. Monday was my last day. It's rather sad really. There are so many things I know I am going to miss, most of all being the rodeos that Twinkie the Kid would put on for us every Friday night.

Yeah, he's real, and so is Captain Cupcake, but honestly, he's kind of a loser.

Look at that stupid mustache, and his voice, what is he, 80?

Anyway, since I have no school and no work this week I've had lots of free time and have been rather bored. Here are some things I've been thinking about though.

It's entertaining to me to watch people run with a backpack on, especially if they don't hold the straps, which makes me wonder, what does a penguin look like running with a backpack on? I couldn't find it on youtube.

I tried to get tickets to the NCAA tournament that was being played at Energy Solutions Arena. The cheapest tickets I could find online where $88 for the very last row. Crazy. But did you see that Xavier vs Kansas State game? Amazing double overtime game. Maybe it would have been worth it....nope.

Weekend

This weekend Heather and Clint came to visit us in Salt Lake. Isn't that nice.

After dinner we went to see Invictus at our nearby dollar theater, which everyone agreed is way better than that lame dollar theater in Logan. It was a good movie, Han gave it an A. She gives everything an A. :)

Wii Freaks

Steve's Birthday

It was Steve's Birthday on Wednesday. We all went out for dinner at P.F. Chang. The food was really good, but I was too excited to eat and forgot to take photos. Boo :( We had deserts after dinner. They were absolutely fantastic. I didn't forget to take photos this time. Yay! The waitress brought candles because it was Steve's birthday. Julie asked if she would sing, but she was too shy to do solo :) Julie and Steve shared the Great Wall.

Kyle and I shared a fried banana with coconut ice-cream desert. It was so good. It reminded Kyle of a Vietnamese dessert that he had in Australia.

Val Day Weekend

Since Val Day is on Sunday, Kyle and I celebrate it on Saturday instead. Or at least attempt to. My schedule changed so that I had the weekends off, so I get to wake up after Kyle for a change :) We went to Layton later that morning to get Kyle a replacement for his wedding ring. That was one of my Val Day gift to him. We got it for an extremely reasonable price. If you want a wedding ring, you should check this place out.

Kyle surprised me with his present when we went to his parents. I think he was hiding it there. He got Heather and Clint to carry it to the living room while we were out shopping. This was what he got me:

Kyle and I was called as the Children Hospital Representatives a couple weeks ago. We basically visits the LDS patients at the Children Hospital monthly with another couple. Saturday afternoon was our first time there. We found Bishop Slaughter's daughter (Kyle's old Bishop's daughter) on the list and was going to visit her, but we found out that she was discharged a few hours earlier. We were glad that she got to go home.

When we got home, Kyle started the home project of putting the present he got me together (all the pieces came in the box not the nice finished product in the picture) while we waited to go to dinner.

For dinner, we when to a Vietnamese called La Cay down town. Their spring rolls were great and their Pho (which was wat I got) was more than average, but unfortunately their spicy lemon grass chichen (Kyle's dish) was a disaster. It put a little of a damper on Kyle's day.

Once home, Kyle continued on with his project while we were waiting to go see Princes and The Frog. Unfortunately, it was sold out when we got there. Boo. Back to putting the TV stand together for Kyle. Since I started working, I had to go to bed 8.30pm the latest, so when 8.30pm rolls around, I started to doze off. Kyle wanted go to the later session of the movie, but by that time I was in dreamland. Poor Kyle.

Sunday we attend the Sacrament at the Children Hospital. It was a brief, only 30 mins long, but it was beautiful. After Sacrament, the Reps leader showed us different part of the hospital that we will cover. It was sad when we go to the trauma/intensive care unit, seeing these kids there.

Kyle and I had a nice quite Sunday afternoon, relaxing and playing Boggle. Altho, Kyle is unbeatable in this game and always knocks my socks off, it's still my favorite game for us to play. It's probably the only game we own that I am not a sore looser in. hahahaha

Sunday was also Luna New Year, but Kyle and I didn't celebrate it! May be next year. And before I end this post, here are a few silly photos we took of ourselves with the new camera we got from Clubbing.

College is Cool?

Well folks, this being my 7th semester, I guess you could say I'm now in my senior year of college. Oh joy. Although, since I won't be done until my tenth semester, I guess I'll be a super senior before I'm done.

Anyway, this semester I am taking six classes. Two of them are labs, one of them physics and one of them chemistry. Labs are boring, easy, and take up a lot of time. But I get to blow sutff up... not really. :( I'm taking one on-line class, abnormal pyschology. I've never taken an on-line class before, so we'll see how that goes. I'm also taking biomechanics and kinesiology, and I think everyone knows what those are both about, right?

My last class in honors exercise physiology, but don't be too impressed, there isn't a regualr exercise physiology class. I don't really know why they call it honors. That class is in the upper campus though, aka not where any of the rest of my classes are, but up by the hospital. How annoying. I have to take either trax or a shuttle from the main campus. Stupid biggest college campus in the state.

Well, as you can tell from the title, I got a job and I am very excited about it! I'll be working as a cashier for Corner Bakery Cafe. It is supper close to our place, just a 5 mins walk away. I had my orientation today, and my training in a little over a week. So far, I really like the management team there. I can't wait to start working!

A season of Giving ...& Receiving

With my side of the family in warmer regions of the world, Kyle and I get to spend the whole Christmas Day with Julie & Steve, Heather & Clint, and Austin & Coco - we all have someone, isn't it great? :) Grandma & pa Passey were there too, but not for the whole day.

We've got Austin this year, so we lovingly gave him a phone book ... which contained an I-Tune card within. We've also got him another gift, which will be arriving sometimes next year. We can't say what it is, because it's a surprised.

We gave Julie and Steve a bottle of sparkling juice, and a book about the history of the song 'I Heard a Bell On Christmas Day' to add to their basket of Christmas stories collection.

Kyle's parents gave us a lot of things for Christmas: A Cocoa Motion, a 72 hrs kits, Mario Galaxy Wii and the 3rd season of Psych.
The Allred got us a set of Beatles (drink) glasses, a box of French Vanilla Cocoa Instant mix, and a package of Tim Tam.
We also receive a Target gift card from Uncle Wayne, which we redeemed for the first season of Better Off Ted.
So now we can have our Tim Tam slam & drink hot chocolate in Beatles glasses, while watching our favourite TV shows on DVDs, and are prepared to run out the door at any moment notice with our 72 hrs kit. Thank you so much for our pile of gifts everyone.

After the strenuous exercise of gifts opening, we had lunch and played games for the rest of the afternoon. Then, we went to see Sherlock Holmes. It was a great movie.

We also celebrate Boxing Day (which is the day after Christmas) by going shopping using our gift cards. It was a great weekend. It's always great fun when all together like this. To Mom and Dad, Heather, Clint and Austin thank you for a wonderful Christmas. We love you.

First Year Anniversary - a PG-rated post

Our first year anniversary was on Saturday. To celebrate we slept in! After breakfast and lots of kisses (and because I took a long time to get ready) we finally ready to head out...
to pick up my present - a pair of grey winter boots.
When we got home, Kyle got to open his present - it's the Beatles Trivia game. He seemed to like it a lot!

We played for a little while (Kyle crushed me of course), but we didn't finished the game because we were really hungry. After satisfying our stomachs, we played 13, which lasted a long time. Kyle won! He got all the good cards!

We went to dinner at Applebee's (Julie and Steve gave us a gift card for our Anniversary. Thank you for dinner!). The food was great, and the service was great too. I was super full.

After dinner, we went to the Hoggle Zoo to see the lights. There were a lot of people there, the car park was packed.

They forgot to lock the animals up, so I had a confrontation with a lions, and Kyle was kicked by a Zebra. Then, I nearly got roasted by a dragon.

On Saturday, Kyle and I went to his parents' for a traditional annual ice-cream cone decoration. The competition was tough as everyone brought their brightest ideas to the table.

Mikall's Wedding
Last Thursday, Kyle and I attended Mikall and Conner's wedding. Their sealing was beautiful. It reminded me of our own special day almost a year ago. Mikall's grandpa was the sealer. Mikall's cried the whole way through. Here they are, the newly weds.

Kyle and I of course couldn't pass the opportunity to take silly photos of ourselves!

Kyle couldn't go to the luncheon due to a very inconvenient chem lab, so I braved it by myself, with Matt, Gareth and Barb! :) The food was great! Before we left, I was introduced to Conner's grandpa, who thought I looked Chinese in my hair, my eyes and my height! lolz.

We went to their reception that night, and grabbed the opportunity to take more photo of ourselves.

It was on last Saturday night. The ward really did go all out. Great decorations, catered food, best Sunday dress code and a visit from Mr&Mrs Clause.

Thanksgiving Weekends

Thursday - Thanksgiving Dinner
Kyle and I enjoyed our Thanksgiving this year with his grandparents, parents, Austin and Coco (also know by various alias such as: Coke Zero, Coco Pop and sometimes mistakenly called Gizmo). Heather and Clint couln't join us this year because they were with Clint's family. I meant to take photo of the Turkey, but dinner looked and smelled (and tasted) so good that all I could think about was 'dig in'! However, I found an image which is a good depiction of how big the turkey was.
Deserts were three delicious pies, which I did remember to take photos of.

Friday - Black Friday, Dinner and Movie
For my faithful Australian followers, Black Friday is like Boxing Day sales only bigger, starts earlier and held before Christmas.

Kyle thought it would be fun to show me what Black Friday sale was like, so we set our alarm at 4am (the sale at Target started at 5am). We got there at about half past and the line was LONG. There was already more than 500 people there. By the time the store opened, the line had at least doubled. It was great to be inside the store, because it was freezing outside. We only bought 2 things (because we were there more for the experience): a Christmas present for Kyle, and our first Christmas tree:
That night, we went for dinner and a movie with the Kyle's family, and family friends (Julie organized it). There were about 20 of us altogether. We saw 'The Blindside'. It was a very funny movie. I really enjoyed it.

Saturday - Shopping and Sport
We went Christmas decorations shopping with the family at a place called 'Tai Pan'. It was a huge store, and had really cute stuff. Kyle and I didn't really get anything for ourselves. We decided build up our Christmas deco collection bit by bit each year to fit our modest budget :) Kyle went to Gareth's parent's see the Utah vs BYU football game with him. It turned out to be a long tidious game, which ended with a lost for Utah. But, the Jazz played that night and they were amazing.

When we got home that night, we decorated our Christmas tree together while watching Elf.

It was a great Thanksgiving long-weekends. And the greatest part about it was that we get to spend it with those we love! (Awwww....)

Super Saturday and Girls' Night

Super Saturday
It was what we called our R.S crafts' day the Saturday before last. I made 2 sets of blocks. One set that says Snow on one side and when you turn them around they spell out Fall.

The other set is a Ho Ho Ho set.

Even tho I weren't any good at crafts, I had a great times making these with the girls. AND having something cute to decorate my apartment with is a bonus! :)

Girls' Night Out
Julie, Holly, Heather and I had a girls' night out last Friday. We went to Simple Treasures, which was an annual Holiday Craft Boutique in Farmington. They had so many beautiful stuff there. It was great. The one down thing was that we all forgot to bring our cameras. We didn't remember them until went to get some food at a Chinese restaurant. Hence no photos for this part of the post :( Boo

After, dinner (which we had to wait a long time for), we went clothes shopping at Aeropostal. I got a free pair of jeans from Holly (I also got a free pair of jeans from Julie a few days earlier, I love free stuff :) Thank you both for those jeans). Holly was very happy to find 2 pairs of jeans that she looked great in, because she was in dire need of new jeans.

After satisfying our shopping needs, we went home for a nice, long, romantic movie called Wives and Daughters. It finished at 3 in the morning, at which time Kyle was long asleep. Clint wasn't allowed to come to our girls' night so it was the first night Heather and him were apart since they were married.

Halloween

For Halloween, we went to a party at Kyle's co-worker's house. This was the first time I had ever been to a Halloween party as it is not celebrated in Australia. We dressed up as Indiana Jones and Short Round (the asian sidekick from The Temple of Doom.)

A Halloween Punkin Tale

In the beginning, there was a pumpkin sitting on Julie's front porch. Then the pumpkin was washed, and carried inside.

A council was gathered, and ideas were drawn. Then the pumpkin was cut open, and all the yuckie stuff was cleaned out.

We inspected, and it was good.
So the carving work began. After much labor, travail and sweat (not really)....

Staycation: Movie Monday

Well, it's Fall Break at the U, so I have a week off from school, and I decided I would take the week off from work as well. We didn't plan to go anywhere ('cause I'm lazy), so we're having a staycation.

On Monday we decided to have a movie day. We started off by watching Juno, but then Gareth came over and ruined our plans, so we ended up playing Super Mario Brothers for a while. (And wouldn't you know it, none of us could get past the level 5 castle. Curse you Bowser!!)
Anyway, we got rid of him and then we watched The Phantom, a super hero classic. I think you all know what I'm talking about.

Next we decided to go out to the movies, so we headed to the theater and saw The Invention of Lying. It was a pretty funny movie. It had parts that I thought were hilarious, especially one part in a bar with Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Overall, I gave it a C+.
After that we came home and I decided that every good movie marathon needs a tent, so I build one in our living room.

We watched Year One in it and then fell asleep watching Remember the Titans. It was a good Movie Monday.

Conference Weekends

Relief Society Activities

Beach Night
We have a 'Beach' Night for our quarterly enrichment activities. I thought it was heaps of fun. We decorate the place with shells, leis, coconut, paper palm tree... Some sisters wore lava lava, and one sister even showed up with her swim wear over her outfit. We played the 3 legged race, beach volleyball on grass, eat ice-cream and get to know one other better. Good times.
Service Project
On Thursday, we made pictures folders for little kids for the Humanitarian Center. It involves a lot of coloring, and a bit of pasting. I didn't realized how long it takes to color 4 pages worth of stuff for a picture folder. May be my coloring skill is a bit rusty since pre-school :) None of us was able to finish a picture folder that night, but luckily we were allow to bring them home for homework.

It's finally here. The long wait is over, and I, Kyle, am now a proud owner of The Beatles: Rock Band! I pre-ordered it last month and it was released yesterday on 09/09/09. We bought it for our Wii. Yes, we have a wii now; we bought it used online and got it for cheap. But anyway, back to the best game ever.

Kyle took me to my first football game on September 3rd to watch as the Utes killed the Aggies. I didn't really understand American football until I went to the game. It was more than confusing watching it on TV for me, but for some reason being there in person made all the difference.

Kyle waited in line to get the ticket for us on Monday, and all that was left was at the very very top. It was a standing only zone, but it didn't matter, cos once the game started everyone in the student section was on their feet anyway. And I like the top, as it offered the whole bird eye view of the stadium. I think this was the reason I understand what was going on :)

The Utes won 35-17. Whoohoo. They weren't playing their best tho, but they still won! It was a good game, I enjoyed it a lot. It sure beats watching it at home on TV. Kyle promised to take me to MORE GAMES!!!! Yay! Here are some pictures we got off the net, cos we forgot to bring our cameras.

Back to School Time

Well, it's time for another semester of school. This fall I'm taking 5 classes. Why don't I tell you about them!

First of all, there's General Physics Lab I. That's right, I thought I was done with physics but I'm not. It turns out I have to take the labs too. Oh well, this is only a one credit course so it should be pretty easy.

I'm also taking chemistry again. Not re-taking, just taking the second half. This time my professor is a short Vietnamese man with bad english and a flat top hair cut like Kevin Bacon's in "A Few Good Men." He is so cool. Not Kevin Bacon; my professor.

Along with the chemistry lecture, I also have a lab (which actually hasn't started yet) and a discussion section. The discussion is run by a TA. Ours is an equally cool South Korean guy named Yani.

Next there's Perspective on Sports in American Society, which isn't as cool as it sounds (assuming you thought it sounded cool). Oddly enough though, I actually have that class with someone I know: Caleb Kuehl. Isn't that nice.

My last class is called Exploration of Movement Science, and it is sure to be as easy as it is wretched. The professor is a young, thirtysomething, newly Phd'ed guy who wants us to call him Dr. Nick. You got it chief.

Well, that about wraps things up for what my life will include the next few months. I can't wait.

Part I

Last Sunday (ie. the Sunday before yesterday), Kyle and I went to his parents' to celebrate Kyle's birthday and Heather and Clint's first anniversary. As requested by Kyle, Julie made us Thai Chicken curry, his new favorite dish.

After dinner, it was presents unwrapping time. Each anniversary has different gift, for the first anniversary it is paper, which was perfect because we got them Mad Libs.

Kyle got a lot of gifts. I guess that showed how well loved he is! Awwww....

Julie and Steve gave Kyle a funny card that said on the front: "Our gift to you, son?" and Inside: "...Life (You're welcome)" The End.

He got a new pair of shoes, a lot of socks and even more love! Awwww....

I didn't give him anything..............yet! He had to wait until Part II.

For desert, as tradition has it, we had Heather's and Clint's wedding cake. It tasted pretty good for a one year old cake.

Part II
On Kyle's birthday, which was last Saturday, we both slept in. Kyle's first present. Then he was showered with gifts after breakfast!

As Austin was away at camp the week before, he gave Kyle a can of dehydrated water.
I gave Kyle all these except for the dehydrated water, my lab-top and the wii remote. He got a new belt and flipflops, two books, and a new set of scriptures:

I also made him a pumpkin pie with Julie's helps. (Thanks Julie) :)

We then had a game of badminton with everyone. Since it was a 100 degree day (for my Australian viewers that =37 Celsius), we were soon very hot and headed for the pool to cool down.

Kyle and I had some pumpkin pies for lunch, played 2 rounds of Apple to Apple with the family. After grandma and grandpa Passey came to wish Kyle a happy birthday, we head off on a treasure hunt. I was in charge of directing where we're going and Kyle was in charge of finding the treasure. It wasn't an ideal system as I had no clue where everything was, so we ended up at Bed Heaven looking at very expensive beds, which we don't need. In the end, we found our treasure at a game store in Layton mall: Beatles Rockband. We placed an order for it. It's coming out next month. Kyle is very excited about it. It was a good treasure hunt.

We went to Little England to have fish and chips. We had our orders to go for which I was glad because even tho there fish and chips are very good, the restaurant itself had a horid smell.

When we got home, our apartment was supper hot. We turned the air-con on full blast but it took a while to cool the living room down. I fell asleep on the couch and wouldn't budge because the bedroom was too hot, so Kyle grabbed our pillows and we camped out in the living room for the night. And that concluded Kyle's 23rd birthday.

This past Saturday, Han and I went boating with Gareth, Barbara, Mikall, and Paul. It was a very interesting and fun experience. To start off with though, we got all the way up to Pineview only to discover that the boat battery was dead. What a terribly inconvenient little sidenote. So, $100 out of Gareth's pocket later(it's his own fault really, don't tell him I said that), we had a new battery and were ready to go. Look how happy Han was about it.

It was a typical boating day, wakeboarding, swimming, and the like. When we took our lunch break, Gareth, Paul and I decided to have a watermelon eating contest... while treading water. It's a lot harder than you might think.

Anyways, that's about all I have to say about it. It was good times.

Adventures in Housesitting, Part II
